Introduction to Overexpression Cell Line
Overexpression cell lines are engineered cellular models in which exogenous target genes are stably integrated into the host cell genome, enabling long-term, high-level expression of the target protein. Unlike transient transfection, stable overexpression cell lines ensure that the target gene is continuously transmitted to progeny cells during cell division, thereby achieving sustained and stable protein expression. The construction of overexpression cell lines typically employs lentiviral transduction or non-viral vector systems to stably integrate the target gene expression cassette into the host cell chromosome, followed by antibiotic selection to enrich stably integrated positive clones. Through monoclonal screening and expansion, cell lines with high homogeneity and stable expression levels are ultimately obtained.
