Description: The basement membrane, a stromal layer located on the basal side of animal epithelial cells, serves as the foundation for Matrigel, an organogel derived from extracts of mouse tumor tissue. This reconstituted basement membrane matrix primarily consists of laminin, collagen IV, and heparan sulfate proteoglycans. Additionally, it is enriched with multiple growth factors, including EGF, PDGF, NGF, FGF-2, and TGF-β.
