Drawing on advanced three-dimensional culture platforms and deep expertise in gastrointestinal biology, we support the creation of normal intestinal organoids tailored to the specific requirements of your research programs. Whether your objectives involve disease modeling, drug discovery, or the study of intestinal physiology, our team provides the technical foundation and scientific guidance necessary to bring your project from concept to validated experimental outcomes.
Intestinal organoids are three-dimensional, self-organizing structures derived from intestinal stem cells or pluripotent stem cells that recapitulate key architectural and functional features of the native intestinal epithelium. These miniature tissue models contain crypt- and villus-like domains, harbor multiple differentiated epithelial lineages including enterocytes, goblet cells, enteroendocrine cells, and Paneth cells, and maintain the regional identity of their tissue of origin over extended culture periods. Unlike conventional two-dimensional cell cultures, intestinal organoids preserve physiologically relevant cell-cell interactions, apical-basal polarity, and the stem cell niche signaling environment, thereby offering a substantially more representative platform for studying intestinal biology and disease.

Alfa Cytology developed human small intestinal organoids for intestinal toxicity evaluation. The organoids were treated with positive and negative control drugs. Under these conditions, the positive control drugs induced varying degrees of cytotoxicity, whereas negative control drugs produced no obvious effects on the organoids. These results indicated that the human small intestinal organoid model could capture drug-induced intestinal toxicity and help address the limitations of animal models in toxicity prediction.
